Spooky Spider Cookie Recipe
In the world of health and fitness, there's a timeless adage: "It's not a sprint, it's a marathon." Sustainable weight loss echoes this sentiment. It's not about drastic measures, fleeting diets, or rigid restrictions. It's about balance, understanding, and moderation.
Moderation empowers us to enjoy our favorite foods without the guilt, yet without overindulgence. It acknowledges that while occasional treats are part of life, consistent, healthful choices form the bedrock of long-term well-being. Instead of banning certain foods or pushing the body through extreme routines, moderation emphasizes portion control, intuitive eating, and holistic health.
In essence, sustainable weight loss is about creating a lifestyle – not adhering to a temporary regime. It’s understanding that while indulging occasionally is okay, it's the daily habits that truly shape our journey. So enjoy this Halloween themed cookie recipe.
Ingredients
For the cookies
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 3/4 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 large eggs
- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
For decoration
- Your choice of frosting or melted chocolate to decorate cookies
- Mini chocolate candies (like M&M's) for the spider's eyes
- Licorice strings (black) for the spider's legs
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Cookie Dough
- In a large bowl, beat the softened butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla extract until creamy.
- Add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
- In a separate bowl, mix together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually beat this mixture into the butter mixture.
- Stir in the 2 cups of chocolate chips.
- Drop by rounded tablespoon onto the prepared baking sheets.
Baking
- Bake in the preheated oven for 9 to 11 minutes or until golden brown.
- Remove from the oven and let them cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.
Decoration
- Using the frosting, adhere two mini chocolate candies to each cookie as the spider's eyes.
- Cut licorice strings into appropriate lengths for spider legs (about 1.5 to 2 inches each). You'll need eight legs per cookie.
- Adhere the licorice legs to the cookies using small dabs of melted chocolate as "glue". Place four legs on each side.
- Once all spiders are assembled, allow the frosting/ or chocolate to set, so the decorations stay in place.
- Enjoy your spooky spider cookies with friends and family!
